In 2019, Newham Cricket Club launched dedicated coaching sessions for girls aged 7 to 10 years. The sessions were popular, with 15 girls taking part on Tuesday evenings.

We plan to develop our girls section further, with the aim to recruit 75 girls playing regular cricket at the club by 2022. In 2020, the club is organising dedicated coaching sessions and enter a girls’ term in a local league in the summer of 2021.
If you have any queries about this please contact our girls’ cricket coordinator Tariq Aslam on 077 11 466524 or tariq@newhamcc.com
Sessions in 2020

Fun-based coaching sessions for girls aged 7-14 start on Tuesday 26th May at 6.30-8 pm. They will take place at our home ground, Flanders Playing Fields, and will run for a period of 12 weeks led by fully-qualified ECB Coaches.
The club will again be holding a FREE taster session on Sunday 5th April from 9:30-11 am at Newham Leisure Centre, 281 Prince Regent Lane, E13 8SD. To register please contact Tariq Aslam.

What equipment is required?
The girls will use an Incrediball (a soft version of a cricket ball) so no protective equipment is required. The club will provide bats, stumps and balls for the girls to use. There is no need to spend lots of money on equipment. If your daughter is really keen, you can purchase a club shirt and baseball cap.
Girls should bring multiple layers to account for variable weather with sports shoes and are advised to bring along some water to help hydrate themselves during the activities.
What Next?
You can register your details with the club here. By registering you automatically become a member of the club and getting started on your journey into the fun game of cricket.
The cost of girls’ membership is £50 and includes the cost of all the summer coaching sessions.
Supporting Girls’ cricket

Our coaching team is run entirely by volunteers, mainly parents, and the more support for the girls the better the coaching sessions will be.
Please consider volunteering to support our exciting initiative. You don’t need to know anything about cricket as you can help in so many different ways. Please come along to one of the sessions or contact us if you are interested in helping out.
