Hi all, we are part of the “Tesco Bags of Help” programme where we are applying for funds to enable us to install an electronic scoreboard. This will enhance the quality of cricket we can offer to the Newham community.

What you need to do – pop into any of the Tesco stores mentioned below, collect a charity token and put it in the Newham Cricket Club drop box near the checkouts. The more tokens we get the more likely it is that we will receive the funds we need!

Nearly £700 was raised on Saturday 22 April in a charity fundraiser played on Mitcham Cricket Green, one of the oldest cricket squares in the world. Hosted by Mitcham Cricket Club, a Combined Charities XI invited Newham Cricket Club to Mitcham to help raise vital funds in memory of a local resident from South London who passed away following a fight with pancreatic cancer last year.

In the end the match was won comfortably by Newham Cricket Club who scored 169 runs from 30 overs, whilst the Combined Charities XI – a mixture of  friends and local players from a variety of local clubs (including Old Rutlishians Cricket Club and Old Emanuel Cricket Club) – responded with 77.

The fundraiser raised more than £700 for charity, which included player and spectator donations, catering and a raffle. The funds raised have been donated to Pancreatic Cancer UK and St John Ambulance.

East Ham Active, in partnership with Newham Cricket Club, are providing free cricket this summer at Flanders Field.

The sessions are funded by Sport England to encourage people to be more active and healthier.

Come and make friends, exercise and play cricket!

People of all ability levels are welcome, including beginners.

No need to register, just turn up in comfortable clothing ready to play.

Cricket For All (Aged 14+)

13^th April to 14^th September 2017 – Every Thursday 6-8pm

Seniors Cricket (Aged 50+)

July 18^th to August 22^nd – Every Tuesday 6-8pm

Newham Cricket Club would like to invite you to join us at our open day on Easter Sunday!

This is a great chance to see and try out our excellent facilities. You can practice your batting and bowling in one of our three nets and put the practice into action by taking part in a match on our main square.

The club staff will be present to answer any questions about the club, membership and the upcoming season.

This event is open to everyone so come along and celebrate the start of the new season with us!
